Focus IP Patents 2026

After the success of the first cycle of webinars "Focus IP Patents" in 2025, CEIPI is launching a second cycle of the continuous training offer in February 2026.

Target audience

This training cycle is exclusively organized online, in English language. It is intended for patent attorneys, attorneys, company lawyers, judges, paralegals and for anyone dealing with patent law in her or his daily professional practice, as well as for IP students.

Prerequisites/Entrance requirements

Participation in this non-degree training offer does not require any specific prerequisites with regard to the target audience.

Presentation and objectives

CEIPI is organizing, as from February 2026, a second annual continuous training cycle dedicated to patent law. It is intended for patent attorneys, attorneys, company lawyers, paralegals and for anyone dealing with patent law in her or his daily professional practice.

The modules will take place as monthly two-hour webinars, usually every first Friday of the month. They give the opportunity to patent practitioners to keep up to date on topics related to their professional experience. The webinars are presented by recognized international experts. Each webinar deals with a specific topic of patent law.

6.  Infringement under the DoE at the UPC in comparison to German and US practice – comments and thoughts (Friday 3 July 2026)

7.  Long-arm jurisdiction of EP courts for patent disputes (Friday 4 September 2026)

8.  Late Filing and other procedural traps in the UPC (Friday 2 October 2026)

9.  Litigation under the Italian and UPC systems: Two different approaches to inventive step as consequence of the procedural differences (Friday 6 November 2026)

10. Recent Boards of Appeal Decisions (Friday 4 December 2026)

Duration

The training cycle comprises 10 two-hour webinars usually held every first Friday of the month, from 12:30 to 14:30 CET (for some exceptions to this schedule please refer to the detailed programme). It is possible to either attend some of the webinars only, or to enrol for the whole cycle of 10 sessions.

Training methods

The webinars aim to combine theory and practice in order to provide concrete, pragmatic answers to the questions raised.

Training supports

The webinars are held via  Zoom. The speakers' presentations and other supports will be made available to the participants. The webinars will be recorded.

Nature and validation of the training

The training aims at the adaptation and development of skills. Participants will receive an attendance certificate.

An evaluation questionnaire will be submitted to the participant at the end of the cycle to measure client satisfaction.
