Norbert Olszak

Norbert Olszak is an emeritus professor at the University of Paris (Panthéon-Sorbonne), honorary dean of the law faculty at the University of Strasbourg, member of the "Institut de Recherche en Droit International et Européen de la Sorbonne" (IREDIES) at the University Paris 1 and an associate member of the CEIPI's research section.

Norbert Olszak is a specialist in the study of indications of geographical origin and quality and their relation to other distinguishing marks such as the protection of agricultural products, plant breeders' rights and wine law. His research combines historical and comparative inquiry with technical analysis of current issues unfolding in Europe and internationaly.

Norbert Olszak was also director of the Masters programme for professionals in European Agricultural Law at the University of Paris (Sorbonne), member of the strategic outlook committee of Alsace Qualité (Alsace Region and Chamber of Agriculture), member of the international scientific council of The Institute of Vine and Wine Sciences of Bordeaux and special rapporteur at the French National Food Council

In 2006 he was awarded the gold medal by the French Society of Agriculture for his work on indications of geographical origin and quality and wine law.
