The Center for International Intellectual Property Studies of the University of Strasbourg is committed to providing inventors and the teams around them with the training and quality pedagogical tools to understand how best to use intellectual property to drive technological advancement.

Today, we would like to draw your attention to the European Inventor Award, which is taking place on 17 June 2021 at 19:00 CEST. For the first time in the history of the event, the ceremony will be entirely digital and open to the viewers around the globe.

This Award, organised every year by the European Patent Office (EPO), has become one of Europe’s foremost innovation prizes and a celebration of the inventors who are making our world safer, smarter and more sustainable. Their fantastic stories are inspiring for all of us: they imagine what does not exist, power through setbacks and turn their dreams into our reality. The Award also spotlights the value of patents, showing how intellectual property rights can help a bright idea become a game-changing invention.

We would like to invite you to join the event on 17 June and to share it with your network. Below is a brief outline:

  • Learn more about 2021 finalists on EPO’s website and VOTE for your favourite finalist to help him/her win the Popular Prize, which is the only category decided by the public.
  • The ceremony takes place on Thursday, 17 June 2021 at 19.00 hrs (CEST) via the online streaming platform: inventoraward.org
  • The event is open to all and no registration is required

To help you spread the word, the EPO has created a Trello board with content and shareable information about the event: https://trello.com/b/6Rq99jEW/european-inventor-award-2021
