24th International Meeting of the CEIPI Tutors

On 2 and 3 May 2013, the CEIPI organized in Strasbourg the 24th meeting of its tutors of the International Section. More than 50 experts in European Patent Law coming from all over Europe attended this meeting in order to share their experience and to attend conferences held by specialists in European and International patent law.

Several lecturers renowned for their expertise in the field of patent law participated in the meeting. Matthias Reischle, Deputy Director of the PCT Legal Division of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), gave an updated presentation on the Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT). Daniel Thomas, former director of DG 1 of the European Patent Office (EPO) and CEIPI tutor, presented norms and standards in patent procedures and patent documents. Derk Visser, European patent attorney and CEIPI tutor, author of «The Annotated European Patent Convention», gave an updated presentation of recent EPO case law. Francis Leyder, chairman of the European Patent Practice Committee of the epi, and Mihaela Teodorescu, vice-president of the epi and coordinator of the Bucarest course, gave an introduction to procedural aspect of the Unitary Patent before the EPO and to future changes within the basic training programme.
