25th European tutors’ meeting of the international section of the CEIPI

On 15 and 16 May 2014, the international section of the CEIPI will organize the 25th annual meeting of its tutors teaching on the basic training courses in European Patent Law and on the preparation courses for the European Qualifying Examination. More than 60 specialists in European Patent law, coming from several European countries, will participate in this meeting to share their experience and to attend presentations on European Patent Law.

Jérôme Debrulle, General Advisor at the BelgianIntellectual Property Office (FPS Economy, SMEs, Self-Employed and Energy) will present the latest developments regarding the unitary patent and the UPC agreement. The following discussion will be moderated by Francis Leyder, Chairman of epi EPPC.

As a supplement to Mr Debrulle’s presentation, Harald Springorum, German and European patent attorney, lecturer at the Heinrich - Heine University Düsseldorf and coordinator of the Düsseldorf basic training course, and Nassim Kiani, specialized lawyer for intellectual property law will share their experience as co-organizators of the epi-CEIPI course on Patent Litigation in Europe in order to summarize the recent development and prospects of the future Patent Litigator certificate.

Christine Bonvallet, Senior Legal Officer at the PCT Legal Affairs Section of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) will give a presentation on PCT updates. Daniel Thomas, former director of DG 1 of the European Patent Office (EPO) and CEIPI tutor, as well as Derk Visser, European patent attorney and CEIPI tutor, author of the «Annotated European Patent Convention», will give updated presentations on recent EPO case law.
