As every year, a one-day seminar, dedicated to European case law in intellectual property, entitled “Intellectual Property at the Court of Justice of the European Union” will be organized by the CEIPI’s Research Department and the Research Federation “L’Europe en mutation”. This day, under the scientific leadership of Ms. Stephanie Carre, Associate Professors at CEIPI, will take place on 10 May 2019, Strasbourg, (Escarpe Building, amphitheater 23).

Academics from CEIPI and practitioners (Vercken & Gaulier, Fidal et Meridian Avocats law firms) are invited to present the case law of the year and to analyze the important decisions more precisely in order to draw the impact and practical consequences.

This year, a debate will also allow Professor André Lucas and Alain Girardet, Counsellor at the 1st Civil Chamber of the Supreme Court of France to discuss the jurisprudential requirement of a substantive decision motivating the balance of interests in the event of infringement of an alleged copyright justified by a fundamental right and in particular by freedom of expression.

This event is opened to students, doctoral students, academics and practitioners and is validated in the framework of the continuing vocational training for lawyers.
