Tribute to Professor Jean Waline

It is with great sadness that CEIPI learned of the passing of Jean Waline, former President and Professor Emeritus of the Robert Schuman University in Strasbourg.

Jean Waline, the son of Marcel Waline, a qualified law professor, spent his entire career at Robert Schuman University, which he chaired from 1971 to 1976.

Professor Waline, a great academic, passionate about teaching and research, is the author of a treatise on administrative law which is a reference in the field. He listened to his students and was concerned about their success and their professional future.

A great servant of the State, he had a political and social career through the vice-presidencies of the Conseil Général and the Région Alsace.

Endowed with a great generosity, he invested himself in various associations and European organizations. Among others, he was president of the International Institute of Human Rights René Cassin and president of the Regional Association of Help for the Handicapped (ARAHM).

Convinced, since the creation of the CEIPI, of the importance of industrial property, Professor Waline has always given it faithful support. He has also greatly contributed to its academic and university recognition, as shown by the course he recently gave to the students of the Master 2 Industrial Property.

CEIPI pays tribute to Professor Jean Waline and expresses its deepest condolences to his family.
