The CEIPI and the Community Plant Variety Office (CPVO) have been collaborating for several years. To provide a legal framework for this collaboration, the two institutions have expressed their willingness to strengthen their relationships and conclude, to this end, a cooperation agreement, which was signed on 1st October 2014.
This partnership has allowed the establishment of a sharing of experiences and knowledge related to research in intellectual property law, through the provision of mutual expertise, organizing common events, hosting trainees and the participation of the CPVO in the joint research project, EIPIN IS.
Established in 1995, the CPVO is the European body responsible for ensuring the implementation of the Community system of protection of plant varieties. Since 1997, CPVO headquarter is located in Angers (France).
The signature of the renewal of this cooperation took place on 27 November 2018, during a ceremony organized at CEIPI, in the presence of the President of the CPVO, Mr. Martin Ekvad, the Director General of CEIPI, Professor Christophe Geiger and members of CEIPI.
The ceremony was held following a conference on “Update of the case-law of the CJEU in the field of Community Plant Variety Rights”.
