Antonio CAMPINOS, new President of the CEIPI’s Administrative Board starting June 7, 2013

At the CEIPI’s last board meeting held in Geneva on December 14, 2012, the members considered the succession to the position of President of the Administrative Board and unanimously decided to propose Antonio CAMPINOS, the present President of the Office for Harmonization in the Internal Market (OHIM).

The CEIPI is pleased to announce that Antonio CAMPINOS, after having obtained the necessary administrative authorizations, has accepted this new responsibility. Mr. CAMPINOS will officially take office as President of the Administrative Board of the CEIPI at the board’s next meeting on June 7, 2013, in Strasbourg. He will succeed Francis GURRY, Director General of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO).

Of Portuguese nationality, Mr. CAMPINOS studied at the universities of Montpellier and Nancy and held positions in the banking and public administration sector in Portugal.

Due to his vast international experience in the intellectual property field, Mr. CAMPINOS became Head of the Portuguese National Institute of Industrial Property in 2005. He was Chairman of the Ad Hoc Working Group on the Legal Development of the Madrid System for the International Registration of Marks at the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) between 2005-2008. Mr. CAMPINOS was member of the Administrative Council of the EPO from 2005 to 2010, and Chairman of the Administrative Board of the OHIM in 2007 before being appointed as its President on October 1, 2010.
