At the CEIPI’s last board meeting held in Strasbourg on July, 7, 2013Antonio CAMPINOS, President of the Office for Harmonization in the Internal Market (OHIM) and ex officio member of the Board officially took office as the new President of the CEIPI’s Administrative Board. He succeeds Francis GURRY, Director General of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO). The members of the Board unanimously offered their warm congratulations to Mr. CAMPINOS and wished him every success.
Of Portuguese nationality, Mr. CAMPINOS studied at the universities of Montpellier and Nancy and held positions in the public administration sector in Portugal.
Due to his vast international experience in the intellectual property field, Mr. CAMPINOS became Head of the Portuguese National Institute of Industrial Property in 2005. He was Chairman of the Ad Hoc Working Group on the Legal Development of the Madrid System for the International Registration of Marks at the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) between 2005 and 2008. Mr. CAMPINOS was member of the Administrative Council of the EPO from 2005 to 2010, and Chairman of the Administrative Board of the OHIM in 2007 before being appointed as its President on October 1, 2010.
Following the board meeting of the CEIPI on July 7, 2013, a transfer of power ceremony was organized to sincerely thank Francis GURRY for his considerable achievements as head of the Administrative Board since 2009.
