This last unit firstly focuses on trade secrets and their role in the protection and commercialization of AI technologies. After introducing the fundamental principles of trade secret protection, students will apply these concepts to specific AI and machine learning use cases through practical workshops. Then, the unit explores licensing strategies, the role of openness in AI innovation, and the valuation and commercialisation of AI assets. Students will develop practical skills through case studies and drafting exercises related to trade secret protection and AI licensing.
Pedagogical objectives:
- Acquire technical and contractual strategies for protecting trade secrets.
- Learn to license trade secrets effectively, with special emphasis on AI/ML applications.
- Develop strategies for licensing training datasets, AI components, and integrated ML solutions.
- Explore open innovation perspectives, valuation of AI projects, and the technology transfer process.
