During the event, Laury Pereira had the opportunity to present the results of her research into counterfeiting via online marketplaces to Christophe Blanchet, MP (President of the CNAC), Pascal Faure, Managing Director of INPI France, and other key players in the fight against counterfeiting.
 
This work, carried out in collaboration with INPI, puts forward a number of proposals aimed at strengthening the fight against online counterfeiting. They seek to respond to the concerns of rights holders, focusing on the prosecution of cyber counterfeiters, the transparency of online marketplaces and their accountability.

Ce fût également l’occasion d’échanger avec plusieurs députés européens sur le sujet de la propriété intellectuelle et la contrefaçon.

The European patent system presents a dual asymmetry. Firstly, it functions independently of the European Union, maintaining a distinct legal framework, prompting questions regarding its alignment with Union law. Secondly, the European Patent Office grants patents following stringent examination criteria, but its interpretation of legislative texts may conflict with that of national courts, risking patent annulment during infringement cases. 

This duality creates legal ambiguity for companies, impacting both the feasibility of their patent applications and the valuation of awarded patents essential to their innovations. This uncertainty poses challenges to businesses operating within this framework.

The focal point of this conference is to address these pivotal and fundamental inquiries by employing a comparative approach that contrasts the diverse practices of the Office, applicants, and the case law of judicial courts across major European countries in the realm of patents.

 The Mock Trial, featuring a panel of distinguished judges and experts, and two experienced lawyers, provides a glimpse into the practical training that participants have engaged in throughout the year. For the first time, this mock trial, traditionally reserved for Diploma participants, will be open to the public for online participation.

 With the Unified Patent Court system launched earlier this month, we invite you to take advantage of this opportunity both to learn and to update yourself for your future practice.

The programme and the timetables have been adapted to encourage networking between participants and to cover a wide range of time zones, using Central European Time (CET) as a reference.

This advanced training course has been jointly organised since 1978 by the World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO), the Center for International Intellectual Property Studies (CEIPI) and the French National Institute of Industrial Property (INPI). The current programme is a continuation of previous editions, focusing on the fundamental and contemporary legal and economic issues surrounding technologies and their transfer.

The seminar is particularly aimed at technology transfer professionals, including officials from university technology transfer offices, national and regional intellectual property offices and ministries of science and technology. With an integrated and practical approach, this course will also be of interest to lawyers and economists. 

Participants can thus benefit from the expertise of specialists from various international organisations, renowned research institutes and universities, and professionals from the private sector, as well as from exchanges with their counterparts from all over the world. The programme's relevance to developed countries, emerging and developing economies makes it a unique forum for exchanging experiences and sharing opportunities.

L’année s’est achevée en beauté pour la promotion Fabienne Keller 2022/2023 du CEIPI avec la remise de prix du concours vidéo Show me your IP ! qui s'est déroulée le 25 mai 2023.

Pour cette deuxième édition, en partenariat avec le cabinet Laurent et Charras, les étudiants du CEIPI ont réalisé des vidéos en équipe sur le thème « La lutte contre la contrefaçon ». 

5 vidéos ont été présélectionnées par le public et l’équipe du CEIPI. C’est ensuite un jury composé de Yann Basire, Ellen Monsnergue (Laurent et Charras) et Gilles Vercken (Cabinet Vercken & Gaullier) qui ont décerné les prix, lors d’une diffusion exceptionnelle au cinéma UGC. 

• Félicitations à Nicolas Charlot ; Grégoire Brucker ; Aude Campion ; Batya Allal ; Marina Cabada et Sonya Ozdek qui remportent le premier prix avec leur court métrage « Des médicaments aux barreaux ».

Le Centre d'études internationales de la propriété intellectuelle (CEIPI) et R2PI - Le podcast de la propriété intellectuelle vous invitent a célébrer l'Europe ensemble avec un événement sur le thème « Europe et propriété intellectuelle ». 
 
Nous aurons le plaisir d'accueillir Monsieur Jean-Marie Cavada, Président de l'Institut iDFRights pour discuter de ce sujet crucial.

Le CEIPI a eu le plaisir d’organiser la 14ème édition du CN2PI - Concours National de Plaidoirie en propriété intellectuelle, le 12, 13 et 14 avril 2023.

Le CN2PI est, à chaque édition, un véritable lieu de rencontres entre les étudiants de Master 2 et les professionnels du domaine de la PI, selon une philosophie qui s’est dessinée au fur et à mesure : sérieux du Concours mais convivialité des échanges.

Sur trois jours, les étudiants des différents Master 2 se sont affrontés en tournois de plaidoirie devant des jurys d’universitaires et d’avocats, sur un cas pratique qui leur a été communiqué au préalable.

En amont du concours, le CEIPI a proposé, sous forme de capsule vidéo, une conférence dédiée à l’art oratoire et à ses spécificités dans le domaine de la propriété intellectuelle. Prodiguée par un spécialiste de la rhétorique et deux praticiens de la matière, elle a été partagée par l’intermédiaire d’une plateforme permettant l’échange et les réactions des divers participants de manière interactive.

Après ces trois jours riches en émotions pour les participants, c’est l’équipe de Strasbourg (CEIPI 2) qui a remporté la victoire à domicile. 

Nous tenons à féliciter nos étudiants : Arnaud Bertoni, Louise François et Grégoire Brucker. 

Un grand bravo également à l'équipe finaliste de Lille (Faculté des sciences juridiques, politiques et sociales-Ulille) ainsi qu'aux lauréats des différents prix :  

• Le prix du meilleur plaideur, attribué à Louis Limousin et Quentin Lucas du  Master Propriété Intellectuelle - Nantes de Nantes Université

The training seminar “SEPs and FRAND licensing: the interplay between IP, competition and contract law“ aims to provide professionals and generally IP enthusiasts with the keys to understanding the legal issues related to SEPs and FRAND licensing and address the many challenges faced in real-life practice, whether as an SEP holder or as a standards implementer.
