Description
This unit aims to introduce the evolving legal framework governing AI in Europe, including fundamental rights, competition law, criminal law and the EU AI Act. The unit then addresses key legal issues related to data in AI systems, including personal data protection, text and data mining regulations, the free flow of non-personal data and the sui generis database right (SGDR) within AI pipelines.
Pedagogical objectives:
- Gain a precise overview of the EU legal landscape regulating data and AI
- Identify and explore fundamental rights, competition law, and penal law in the context of AI.
- Master personal data rights and the regulation of data flows in the EU.
- Gain a precise understanding of access to protected data in the EU for text and data mining.
- Understand sui generis database right (SGDR) and its application in the AI pipeline.
